Night Walk At Punggol Road (28 Feb 2014)

It has been a long while since I last went to Punggol Road and so I decided to go there for a short walk. The place was extremely dry and many of the vegetation were drying up or dying, even the many of the small streams that crisscross the place were all dried up.

The start of the trip was not too good as only after walked for 15 minutes that I found this Chafer Beetle (Apogonia expeditionis).

The next beetle was a Fungus Weevil on a fallen log.

After having walked for 20 minutes before I found this tiny 2 mm Fungus Beetle.

The next beetle was a Chafer Beetle(Adoretus compressus) which was found near a large patch of burnt vegetation. Guessed that the fire was due to the dry weather and strong wind.

The last beetle was a Darkling Beetle that was found on a half burnt tree.

This trip was a total wash out as the number of beetles encountered was really miserable. I guessed that this is mainly due to the exceptionally dry weather that we are experiencing in Singapore.
